Leadership Role in Mental health support
Mental health is defined by WHO as the
mental wellbeing of people all around the world without feeling stressed and
cope with others collaboratively while contributing to the community standards.
Everyday people have to gone through thousands of emotions and psychological
aspects in their life due to their lifestyle. People are stressed and bored
with their work though they need a support to recover themselves soon to cope
with the outside people in a friendlier and supportive way.
In order to overcome daily busy schedules
of people with more pleasant and calming environment, people need mental health
support by various means though it is the integral part of human life. Mental
health support is simply the guidance of assistance given by various people or
authorities to people with damaged mental health issues.
There are numerous advantages of mental
health support as it is a necessity in the modern day world. It can directly or
indirectly enhance the mental wellbeing of people while improving their quality
of life. It paves the way for a mentally relaxed and satisfying mentality of
people. Mentally stable people are more focused and concentrated on their work
thus increase the quality of life with strong and long lasting relationships.
(Chinman et al.,2006) Mental health support can reduce the risk of being
depressed or bored with work load and work environment while helping people to
reduce conflicts among closed people. (Griffin et al.,2006) It increased the
productivity of people too.
When promoting mental health support within
workplace, organizations, schools, universities or any other community,
leadership role is the most important part of it. (Corrigan and McCracken,1998)
Leaders are more responsible towards the supporting systems and provide
necessary resources and services to people as they act as the responsible
personalities during the safeguarding of mental health of people. (Avolio and
Bass,1995) It is better to have a leadership role when implementing the
relevant supportive systems as it can lead to a better work life balance and
workload balance. Having a responsible person to work with the mental health is
rewarding though they can build strong and necessary networking system while
mentoring and evaluating the growth and progress continuously.
